"We purchased 154 just over 5 years ago the previous owner who had lived here for many years had passed away her name was Vera. The garden was nearly all grass apart from the beautiful pink camellia which we have called Vera and reminisce how much Vera would have loved living here and enjoyed her garden. We have loved turning the back garden to a shaded paradise and the cemented front garden has returned to a scent filled oasis.
The neighbours are great and we have made some life long friends which I will be sorry to leave.
The high street has some terrific local shops from the house of carpet and curtains the old fashioned stationers and nothing beats the toasties and coffee from George in 'Kente' .
Alexander nurseries on Parish Lane is a lovely spot to sit amongst the plants with a home made cake and coffee on a sunny afternoon. On the Hoof In the high road is great for brunch any day.
If you want to give back to the local community there is an amazing charity garden called 'The Sydenham garden' which offers a refuge to people with mental health problems, dementia, cancer and people that just need a little help over a difficult period. I have helped there for just over a year its very rewarding and humbling.
We will be sad to leave the house but the renovation work has been rewarding and it's a real gem with many of its original features remaining
